Role: Marketing & Communications Manager

Location: Tokyo, Japan

Overview

Our client, a global organisation within the fintech and innovation ecosystem, is seeking a Marketing & Communications Manager to lead and localise its marketing initiatives in Japan.

This individual will serve as a critical bridge between the Japan office and the global headquarters in Singapore, ensuring that Japan's unique market voice is effectively represented in global campaigns while also driving Japan-specific marketing strategies.

This role is well-suited for a hands-on, full-stack marketer experienced in digital campaigns, content development, social media, web management, and performance analytics. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with global teams to ensure cohesion across all marketing and communication activities.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Localisation & Campaign Integration
  • Work closely with global headquarters to localise global campaigns for the Japanese market.
  • Ensure messaging appeals to local audiences while remaining aligned with global brand and strategy.
  • Provide market insights during the planning and development of global content and campaigns.

  1. Local Campaign Management
  • Design and manage Japan-specific marketing campaigns across paid, owned, and earned channels.
  • Develop storytelling and promotional strategies tailored to Japan's fintech and technology ecosystem.
  • Oversee translation and cultural adaptation of global marketing assets.

  1. Agency & Partner Management
  • Manage relationships with local creative, PR, and media agencies to ensure quality and cost-effective execution.
  • Coordinate with global teams to brief agencies and verify outputs meet brand standards.

  1. Digital & Social Media
  • Lead social media strategy and digital community engagement for the Japan market.
  • Create and schedule original Japanese content aligned with global content calendars.
  • Analyse performance metrics and share insights with headquarters.

  1. Content Creation & Community Engagement
  • Develop high-quality content (articles, newsletters, videos, infographics, etc.)
  • Drive online community growth through interactive digital initiatives.
  • Collaborate with global content teams to maintain consistent messaging.

  1. Website & SEO
  • Manage updates to the Japan section of the organisation's website.
  • Work with global digital and operations teams to ensure SEO alignment and consistency.
  • Monitor site performance and recommend optimised solutions.

  1. Analytics & Optimisation
  • Track and report digital performance using tools such as Google Analytics and HubSpot.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to enhance campaign effectiveness and user engagement.
  • Align KPIs and reporting frameworks with global marketing operations.

  1. Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Support the Japan Lead with community-building, events, and ecosystem outreach.
  • Partner with global teams, including:
    • Content & Content Marketing - for Japan-specific messaging
    • CRM & Marketing Operations - for customer journeys and data alignment
    • Digital Marketing - for paid media and SEO integrations
    • Events/Forums - for promotion of Japan-based initiatives

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 6-10 years of experience in marketing and communications, ideally within fintech, B2B technology, or innovation sectors.
  • Native-level Japanese with strong English proficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver multi-channel marketing campaigns.
  • Proficient in social media management, CMS platforms, SEO, and analytics tools.
  • Experience collaborating with agencies and global teams across time zones.
  • Strong analytical abilities and a data-driven mindset.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and storytelling skills.
  • International mindset and cultural agility.
