Alycia Graemer is Head of Practice at Aspire in Singapore and focuses on roles in Sales; Business Development; Events; Digital Media and MarTech. Starting as a Consultant in January 2013, Alycia has gone from strength to strength and now runs the Singapore practice alongside April Shepherd, Head of Practice. She is loved by the team for her vibrant, positive attitude and leads from the front to expand Aspire's presence across APAC and find the very best talent for our clients.7am: I wake up around 7am and start my day by making myself a cup of tea. I will have a quick read through my emails and binge on some news in bed before getting ready for work.
8 – 8:30am: I’m out of the door and heading to work. It’s a breezy 15-minute walk, a couple of stops on the MRT and a short walk the other end.
8:45am: I get to the office at around 8.45am and my first priority is checking our office diary so I can plan for the day ahead. Next, I’ll make myself another cup of tea (tea over coffee always!) and make sure there’s some decent music on in the office.
9am: Now I’ve settled in, I will reply to any pressing emails and follow up with clients and candidates on any emails/calls that have come in overnight.
10am: We have recently promoted some of our team so there are lots of training sessions in the diary to get them up to speed. I will run through things like managing client’s expectations, terms negotiation, business development & handling objections.
11am: By mid-morning I usually head out of the office to meet with a client or new candidate at Club Meatballs by our office. If I’m meeting a candidate I will run through their previous responsibilities and find out what they are looking for in their next role. I explain more about the role they have applied for and make sure it is a good match with their goals and experience.
12pm: Lunchtime! I make the most of the hour by either heading to a yoga class or running errands, followed by lunch at my desk.
1pm: After lunch I dive back into work and catch up on any emails I’ve received this morning. I also take some time to review any responses I’ve received for my roles being advertised on our website and LinkedIn.
2pm: Next I focus on arranging interviews for candidates I’ve met and who fit the requirements for roles I am currently recruiting for. I also use this time to reach out to clients and candidates who have recently had interviews to get some feedback and co-ordinate the next steps – hopefully a second interview or an offer! Once that is done I will catch up on my live roles so I can prioritize.
3pm: I like to check in with the team each day to see how their days are going and will either offer some support with a role if needed or just have a quick chat! In the afternoons I will usually spend some time directly headhunting through LinkedIn for urgent roles.
4pm: I have a client meeting this afternoon and will run through a new job brief with them. I make sure to understand their requirements including exactly what the role involves, the experience they are looking for the candidate to showcase and who would fit well with the company/team culture.
5pm: Towards the end of the day I will finish up any admin I’ve missed; mapping out candidates for new job briefs and writing up profiles to send to clients.
6pm: I leave the office for the day around 6pm and head to a PT session; drinks; dinner or Netflix at home.
