A fast-scaling Technology and B2B Events business are seeking a growth-focused marketer to establish their market presence from the ground up. This is a hands-on builder position, not a traditional marketing role. You'll be responsible for attracting top-tier industry experts, cultivating a compelling brand identity, and driving engagement across all touchpoints.
There's no established playbook here. You'll define the strategy, execute the tactics, and own the outcomes.
This role will focus on growing a community, with the use of both offline and digital marketing tools and relationship building.
Responsibilities
- Act as growth marketer; designing and executing strategies to attract and secure high-calibre industry specialists through offline and digital activities
- Cultivate a trusted and desirable brand identity by weaving authentic storytelling with tangible community engagement across digital and physical channels.
- Drive ecosystem expansion through a relationship-first business development methodology, focusing on converting individual connections into long-term platform advocates.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of digital touchpoints, including social media channels and web properties, ensuring they serve as engines for growth rather than static brochures.
- Orchestrate a mix of virtual and in-person events designed to foster deep networking and accelerate the onboarding of new members.
- Operate with full autonomy to execute growth tactics, defining success metrics and adjusting the playbook based on real-time market feedback.
- Lay the foundational groundwork for future team scaling, transitioning from an individual contributor to a leader as the function matures and building your own team of expert marketers
Experience
- Proven track record of launching initiatives or communities from zero to traction, demonstrating the ability to create momentum without pre-existing frameworks or large support teams.
- Strong background in growth marketing, community building, or business development, within a start up or scale up environment
- Demonstrated ability to blend creative brand narrative with data-driven execution to drive measurable visibility and engagement.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and operating independently, with a mindset that prioritises output and results over rigid processes or hierarchical structures.
- Practical experience with marketing automation and CRM ecosystems (such as HubSpot) to manage pipelines, track interactions, and optimise outreach efficiency.
- Ability to show concrete examples of building something meaningful from scratch, whether that be a community, a brand, or a revenue stream.
- Based in or willing to relocate to Sydney (must be Australian citizen/PR), with a hybrid working arrangement that balances remote flexibility with essential in-person networking.
- Operating autonomously in ambiguous environments
