DevOps Engineer - AWS

Hybrid 2 days a week London

Salary : £60k - £80k

Please note : You need to be eligible for SC clearance (UK citizen)

About the Company We are a fast-growing health technology organisation operating at the intersection of cognitive science, clinical research, and large-scale digital assessment. Our platforms are used to measure cognitive performance across clinical trials, occupational health programmes, and large institutional deployments both in the UK and internationally.

We work with security-conscious organisations across healthcare, national institutions, and other high-stakes environments where performance and reliability are critical. Our infrastructure is cloud-native, and our engineering team is distributed, collaborative, and highly specialised. With a rapidly expanding project portfolio, this role is central to how we deliver our work.

The Role This is a core engineering position focused primarily on building and maintaining backend systems using Django and Python within a cloud-native AWS environment. You will take ownership of features from initial design through to deployment.

The role also includes a client-facing technical component, such as integration planning and deployment coordination. Occasionally, you may work within access-controlled environments where remote access is not possible, acting as the on-site technical expert responsible for provisioning, configuration, deployment, and debugging, while collaborating remotely with the wider team.

Key Responsibilities

· Build and maintain backend features using Django and Python

· Contribute to database design and optimisation using Postgres

· Manage and enhance AWS infrastructure (ECS/EKS, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch)

· Own deployments end-to-end via CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions)

· Carry out hands-on technical work in secure, access-controlled client environments where required

· Act as a technical point of contact for client IT and security teams

· Produce clear integration documentation, runbooks, and technical specifications

Requirements

· Strong practical experience with Django and Python in production environments

· Solid knowledge of Postgres (schema design, migrations, query optimisation)

· Hands-on AWS experience (ECS or EKS, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch)

· Comfortable independently managing deployments, troubleshooting, and issue resolution

· Familiarity with Terraform and CI/CD tooling (e.g. GitHub Actions)

· Strong security awareness, including least-privilege IAM principles

· Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders

· Eligibility to obtain UK Security Check (SC) clearance (sponsorship provided; not required on day one)
